Anyone know what the update entitled "EeeAP" then with a subtitle of "asus_range_maximizer" does?
Does the Eee have the ability to act as an access point pretty much 'out of the box'?
I was able to log on to my home network without any problem 5 minutes after I opened the box.

Ah, I said "act as an access point". i.e. provide access to other pcs through itself. Yes mine too could connect to my access point straight away.
What I was thinking was, if I got the 3 or vodafone dongle, I could then use my little eeepc as a network sharer and access point for other pcs, pdas and phones in the viscinity... (see other thread for discussion of voda/3 etc).
I think EEEAP is some kind of utility to let EEEs talk to one another without actually being attached to an access point or whatever. I could be wrong. Anybody know for sure?
Pretty sure this is to do with making a sort of "mesh" network of EEEs. Lets say you have a big open area to cover, but don't want to permanantly install infrastructure. Then what you do is run eeeap on a whole bunch of EEE machines, then use them as normal, and they will act as a mesh, as well as providing access to each individual machine ... *apparently*. I have yet to test this !
